LITITZ, Pa. — The life of a 54-year-old Lititz man was saved thanks to the quick response and action of emergency officials.

According to the Warwick Community Ambulance Association, on Dec. 27, the man collapsed in his kitchen and stopped breathing. His family immediately called 911 and initiated CPR, setting into motion a lifesaving chain of events.

Police officers were called to the scene, taking over CPR efforts and deploying an AED.

A nearby fire company and EMS crews arrived, bringing advanced medical interventions. Firefighters provided high-performance CPR as EMS professionals established IV access and performed an endotracheal intubation. A LUCAS mechanical CPR device was also used, ensuring continuous and effective compressions.

The man was transported to UPMC Lititz Emergency Room. On the way, paramedics noted a return in spontaneous circulation, a hopeful sign of recovery.

Just days later, the Warwick Community Ambulance crew was sent to UPMC Lititz for a patient transfer and discovered the same man they had recently aided.

The man showed a full recovery with no neurological deficits and expressed deep gratitude to the crew, having no memory of the scary event.

To celebrate the extraordinary outcome and recognize the first responders' dedication and skill, the Warwick Community Ambulance Association will perform a special ceremony at the Lititz Fire Company on Monday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m.

The event will honor the police officers, firefighters and EMS crews whose prompt and expert actions were pivotal in saving the man's life.

All community members are encouraged to attend to commemorate the work of the local first responders.
