LANCASTER, Pa. — This week’s Furry Friend is Louie, brought to us by the Pet Pantry of Lancaster County. Louie has resided at the Pet Pantry for a few months now, making him the longest resident at the rescue on the search for his forever home.
Louie is a 2 year old black cat who was surrendered due to an unknown medical condition. Louie was losing his fur. Fortunately, doctor's at the rescue quickly found the problem; allergies. The solution to this problem was easy. He now eats hypoallergenic food and all of his fur has grown back.
“He is healthy otherwise, just a special diet, which you can pick up at any pet store, your regular veterinary office, or even Chewy if you prefer to have it delivered, you can order it online," says Nacomi Bissonnette, Rescue Director.
Now that Louie is in tip top shape, he's ready to find his forever family."
“He’s extremely outgoing and very friendly to everyone that he meets," says Bissonnette.
Louie takes a minute or two to warm up to new people, but once he comes out of his shell he's an outgoing and friendly cat who loves to snuggle with his people.
“Louie just loves attention," Bissonnette tells FOX43. "He wants to be petted. He wants to be brushed. And he wants to be king of his castle. He did previously live with other cats and did okay. The only thing is, he could live with other cats, but he needs to only eat the hypoallergenic diet.”
Kitten season is in full swing right now, which means that the Pet Pantry is at max capacity. And while the kittens often get adopted quickly, Bissonnette wants to keep shining a spotlight on the deserving cats like Louie who are still looking for their spot in the world.
“Someone just needs to come in and fall in love with him," she says.
If you're interested in adopting Louie, you can fill out an adoption application on the Pet Pantry of Lancaster County's website or stop by to meet him and apply in person.
