NEW FREEDOM, Pa. — This week's Furry Friend is Toni, brought to us by Animal Rescue Inc. Toni is a 7-year-old poodle. She's a pocket-sized pup with curly, golden fur currently living the sweet life with her foster family in York County.
Denise Hollingsworth, her foster mom, says this girl quickly settled into family living after being rescued from a breeder.
“It was amazing. I was really surprised at how fast she did settle in and just make herself at home here," she says.
Toni is a perfect shadow dog who loves to be close to her people at all times.
“I think she would do well with someone who is at home all the time. Someone who wants a lap dog, because that’s where she wants to be," Hollingsworth told FOX43. "If she’s not on my lap, she’s beside me and my husband as well. She’s a follower. She does well on a leash. Even without a leash she does really well with sticking by my side.”
Toni currently lives with another dog, multiple cats and even birds! She does well with all of them and would do well in almost any family situation.
She’s working on learning her basic commands. Hollingsworth has even noticed that Toni likes to jump on her hind feet and dance. She says this skill could be something fine tuned with more training.
“If a family had a teenager or a young child, a younger child, that would want to train and work with her, I think that would be awesome," she said.
And despite her age, Toni still has plenty of energy to give as she enters this new chapter of life.
“I think she’s just going to make a wonderful, wonderful dog for someone. Whether it’s a family, an older couple or just someone who works from home, would be wonderful," said Hollinger.
