Furry Friends with Barkus, the dog!

Barkus is a friendly and active dog searching for his forever family at the York County SPCA.

YORK, Pa. — This week's Furry Friend Barkus is brought to us by the York County SPCA.

Barkus is estimated to be 3 years old and is a mixed-breed dog. He arrived at the shelter in late October as a stray and has quickly become a volunteer and staff favorite.

This dog has definitely earned his name and loves the sound of his own voice. Barkus also loves people and going for walks, so he would make a great companion for a person or family with an active lifestyle. Barkus loves to play and is very food-motivated.

The shelter is not sure how Barkus feels about living with other dogs, cats or children. They do require all canine and human members of the family to schedule to meet with Barkus to see if he will fit into your family. For cats, they suggest a slow, well-managed introduction with plenty of decompression time.

If you're interested in meeting Barkus or any of the other pets available for adoption at the shelter, you can fill out a form on the York County SPCA's website. You can also drop in for public browsing hours between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays or on Saturdays.
