NEW FREEDOM, Pa. — This week's Furry Friend is Coco, brought to us by Animal Rescue Inc. located in New Freedom, York County.
Coco is described as a diamond in the rough by volunteers at the rescue. She is a younger dog estimated to be a mix of border collie and labrador retriever.
Coco is a confident, good-natured and energetic dog. She loves to play on the agility course at Animal Rescue Inc. and is learning how to properly return toys when playing fetch in the yard. Coco does well on car rides and likes to meet new people on trips to local stores.
She knows some commands already like sit and stay. She's also working on her leash-walking skills and has already come a long way.
Coco's perfect family will have a fenced-in yard so she can freely run around. She would do well with older kids who are able to handle her higher energy.
Black dogs and cats like Coco are often overlooked by potential adopters. February marks Black Dog and Cat Syndrome Awareness Month. Coco is hoping to beat the stigma and find her forever family soon.
If you're interested in adopting Coco, you can fill out an application and make an appointment to meet her on Animal Rescue Inc.'s website.
