YORK, Pa. — This week’s Furry Friend is brought to us by the York County SPCA. Louise is a bully mix who has been at the shelter for a few months. She’s hoping that a new year will mean new opportunities for a family with a big yard she can zoom around in.
“She is very, very friendly with people. She loves to play," said Kristen Dempwolf, the communications director at the shelter.
Dempwolf says that Louise was found as a stray and is estimated to be about 4 years old.
Louise has a bubbly personality and a short tail that didn’t once stop wagging during our visit. She loves back scratches and will gladly show off her skills for a treat. She knows how to sit on command and can shake and lay down too.
The only requirement for Louise’s new family is that she is the only animal in the home.
She would do well with kids and a family that likes to get outside.
“She’d be a great addition to an active household," Dempwolf told FOX43. "She’d be a great dog to take on a hike and she is looking for her forever home.”
The York County SPCA just announced that its kennels are full, so if you’re thinking of adopting a furry friend, this would be a great time to help.
If you can’t adopt, the shelter has other volunteer opportunities too.
“We can always use more volunteers. As we’re full we’re always looking for more dog-walking volunteers. It’s a great way to come and get exercise while also serving your community and taking care of dogs in our shelter.”
You can find more information to apply to adopt Louise or to start volunteering at the shelter all on the York County SPCA's website.
