Furry Friends with Roxi, the dog!

Skip the flowers and chocolate this Valentine's Day, Roxi is looking for milk bones, belly rubs, and a forever family.

YORK, Pa. — If you’re looking for a companion who loves long walks and treats this Valentine’s Day, I have just the girl for you.

Roxi is a beautiful brindle colored pit bull mix from the York County SPCA. And while Roxi is currently located in Pennsylvania, she came here from Maryland hoping to get a new chance at finding her family.

“She actually came through to us through a transfer from Harford County Humane," says Kristen Dempwolf, Communications Director for the York County SPCA. "So we brought 2 of their long term dogs and we took 2 of their long term dogs and Roxi is still here with us.”

Roxi came to Pennsylvania with another familiar Furry Friend, Monstro

Dempwolf says she's hoping that Roxi, Monstro, and all the pets at the shelter can get adopted and is hoping future adopters "swipe right" this week.

“Swipe right on any shelter pet. They make wonderful additions to your home," says Dempwolf.

Roxi would make a great addition to an energetic family. She's an adult dog, but has a lot of life and playfulness in her. She likes to play with toys, is a great match at tug of war, and the fastest runner when zooming around the yard.

Roxi loves treats and knows how to sit. She's also an excellent companion on car rides.

Her ideal family won't have any other pets and will be able to devote all their time to Roxi. While Roxi can't be around other dogs, human siblings would be great as long as they're a little bit older.

“She does tend to jump. She has some work to do on her manners. Probably older kids or teenagers she would do okay with just because she might be a lot for a little kid. But I think she’d do wonderful in an active family," says Dempwolf.

As an extra sweet treat this Valentine’s Day, the York County SPCA is reducing the adoption fees of some of their long term residents that have been at the shelter for more than three months.

If you're interested in adopting Roxi or any of the Furry Friends at the York County SPCA, you can fill out an adoption application on their website
