WINDSOR, Pa. — This week’s Furry Friend is a bundle of energy looking to find a family she can share her excitement with. Layla is a year-and-a-half-year-old lab mix brought to us by Charlie’s Crusaders Pet Rescue.
Layla was previously adopted to a family by Charlie's Crusaders, however she was recently surrendered when this family's living situation changed. She's now hoping to find a new, permanent home just in time for the holiday season.
In the meantime, Layla is being fostered with Terri Herb, owner of HappiTee Kennels in Windsor, York County.
“She’s very smart and learns quickly as far as what we’ve been trying to do here," Herb said about Layla.
When first brought to the kennel, Layla exhibited some apprehension and selectiveness when it comes to other dogs. Herb and her trainers have been working with Layla on her socialization and says she's making great improvements.
“All in all she’s very good with people. She had some bad habits when she came and the girl that works for me is also a trainer, and we’ve been working with her," explained Herb.
Layla’s perfect family will be ready to help reinforce this training and keep her on track.
An active family or person that likes to hike or play sports would be perfect for Layla. She also requires a fenced in backyard so she can freely zoom around.
If your family already has a furry friend at home, Layla will need a slow and managed introduction with them. She will also do well as an only-dog household.
Herb says that while Layla will need a family ready to handle the bundle of energy that she brings, this pup is worth the investment and is deserving of being someone’s best friend.
“She’s a sweetheart. She’s a people pet," she says.
In an effort to find Layla’s forever family, Charlie’s Crusaders has reduced her adoption fee to $225. If you're interested in adopting Layla, you can fill out an application on Charlie's Crusaders website. Once approved, you can schedule a meet and greet with Layla to make sure you're a perfect fit.
