PENNSYLVANIA, USA — This week's Furry Friend is Lo'ak, brought to us by Charlie's Crusaders Pet Rescue.
Lo'ak initially got his name as part of an "Avatar" litter at Charlie's, though his first adoptive family affectionately called him Woody. Unfortunately, Lo'ak's first family is unable to care for him at this point, and he's looking to find a new forever family.
Lo'ak is a high-energy boxer mix who is just about a year and a half old. He loves to make new friends and play at the dog park.
In fact, Lo'ak checks off almost every box. He is kid-friendly, and cat and dog-friendly. A family with another furry friend at home would be a great setup for Lo'ak so he has a companion to show him the ropes and a playmate to channel his energy.
An active family who's able to play with Lo'ak or take him out on walks or hikes would be perfect. Lo'ak will need a home with a fenced-in yard so that he has plenty of room to safely run around.
Lo'ak knows basic commands like sit and wait and is crate and potty-trained.
The only thing his new family will need to work on is reinforcing the "down" command when guests come home; Lo'ak does tend to get excited and jump around. However, his previous owner says that with a little more training, this smart dog will get the hang of things quickly.
If you think you'd be a good match for Lo'ak, you can apply to meet and adopt him on Charlie's Crusaders Pet Rescue's website.
