YORK, Pa. — This week we're featuring a few Furry Friends! With Easter around the corner, the York County SPCA is hoping to find homes to their numerous rabbits that are at the shelter.
Our first Furry Friend is Clyde. Clyde is a 4-year-old rabbit and one of the most handsome rabbits at the shelter. He loves to be pet and doesn't mind being picked up if done gently. Clyde loves to explore when he's out for exercise and is hoping to form a bond with a new family soon.
Our second Furry Friend is Poppa Georgio. This beautiful Netherland Dwarf mix loves gentle snuggles and roaming around. He also loves to munch on lettuce. A bonus for this rabbit is that he is already litter trained and has previously shared a home with a small dog and young child.
Up next we have Gretchen. She is a 1-year-old domestic rabbit who was found as a stray in York County. Gretchen loves to be pet and snuggling up with volunteers. She'll even squeeze in beside your neck for hugs and is sure to bring her forever family lots of love.
Finally, meet Ron Swanson. This 1-year-old rabbit has experience living with and being around other rabbits. Swanson is a gentleman and gently takes treats from those who offer. He enjoys being pet and is litter trained as well.
All four of these rabbits have been microchipped and are healthy and ready to find their forever home.
Shelter staff do want to remind potential adopters that rabbits are social animals who enjoy spending time with their families. Many rabbits also benefit from being in pairs. If you are thinking of adopting a rabbit, make sure you understand that they are a similar commitment to bringing a dog or cat into your home.
If you're interested in adopting one of these Furry Friends, the York County SPCA is hosting a small animal adoption event on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the shelter. All small animal adoptions will be half price. You can learn more about this event and apply to adopt ahead of time on the York County SPCA's website.
