Remembering shelter pets this holiday season | On the Bright Side

The York County SPCA is reminding the community to remember shelter pets this holiday season.

YORK, Pa. — As the holiday season approaches, the York County SPCA is urging the community to remember the animals in their care.

With more than 250 animals currently seeking loving homes, the shelter is facing increased demand for resources and volunteers.

“Especially as the weather gets colder, we want to make sure that every animal is well cared for in our community,” said Kristen Dempwolf, Communications Director for the York County SPCA.

To help support the shelter’s mission, the public is encouraged to donate much-needed supplies, including:

  • Canned cat food
  • Trash bags
  • Paper towels
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Canned dog food
  • Dog treats
  • Blankets

In addition to donations, the shelter is always looking for foster and adoptive families.

“A pet can bring so much love, joy, and compassion to a family,” said Dempwolf. “And we hope that if you decide to bring a pet into your life, that you’ll consider adopting from a shelter like us at the York County SPCA.”

You can drop off donations at WellSpan Park, December 13th through December 19th, during Bright Nights York!

You can also bring donations to the shelter anytime.
