MANHEIM, Pa. — If you and yours are looking for a fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day that breaks from the usual romantic dinner, Horst Arts is here to help.
The small business provides design services and helps guests create a variety of fun crafts. In honor of Valentine's Day, they are holding two string art sessions.
"We enjoy coming up with these projects," Jason Horst, designer, said. "We come up with some easy templates and processes that people can do without having any experience and that they can express their own creativity."
Jason and Katherine Horst decided to open their Horst Arts location in the heart of downtown Manheim in 2019 after spending a decade working out of their home. Katherine, a collage artist, and Jason, a graphic designer and web developer, offer their customers a variety of services. They say they find Horst Arts becoming a "creative solutions business."
The owners wanted to offer Lancaster County services that aren't readily available across central Pennsylvania, hence their scores of services and expansion into the craft class world. Besides string art, they regularly host a number of workshops such as junk journaling, collaging and even crafting competitions.
"We enjoy doing different types of projects, different things--people are used to painting or drawing, so we want to offer projects that you don't have to have that ability," Katherine, fine artist/events manager, said.
Interested artists and groups can also rent out Horst Arts' studio for a communal workspace or private events.
The Valentine’s String Art workshop will take place at Horst Arts, located at 17 N. Main St. in Manheim on Feb. 14 There will be two sessions, one at 4 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online.
