At-home COVID-19 tests, raising grocery store prices, National Plan a Vacation day | Consumer Headlines

Consumer headlines for Jan. 25: COVID-19 at home test deliveries expected soon, grocery store prices continue to increase, and today is National Plan a Vacation day

COVID-19 at-home test deliveries:

People may get at-home COVID-19 tests sooner than expected.

Check your inbox. People are getting delivery dates and tracking numbers for the at-home COVID-19 tests they ordered from the government last week.

The email should be sent by autoreply@usps.com.

Make sure you check that address, though, because now that scammers know these legitimate emails are out, they may try to spoof them to get your information or put malware on your device.

Grocery store prices continue to increase:

Shoppers are turning into bargain hunters since high prices at the grocery store aren't dropping.

People are switching to lower-price brands for things like frozen foods, cooking oil and other items.

Reports from the U.S. Labor Department show the food at home index increased to 6.5% last year. That's the largest increase since 2008.

National Plan a Vacation Day:

Jan. 25 is National Plan a Vacation Day. If you're booking a flight, there's a new rule that aims to stop unfair airline practices.

It allows the department of transportation to move a bit faster to help customers.

The department is also planning on creating more regulations for refunds, baggage costs, and other fees.
