HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Attorney General's office is receiving more complaints from Pennsylvanians who have been mailed a $100 check from the America PAC, even though they never signed the petition.
FOX43 Finds Out can confirm at least five people have emailed us with similar complaints after our investigation aired when we introduced you to Jeanne Fermier in York County who got the check but never signed the petition herself. Most people believe someone they don't know signed them up in order to get the referral bonus from the PAC.
As of December 5, a spokesperson for the AG office confirmed there have been 24 complaints from Pennsylvanians who received a $100 check from the America PAC, but did not sign the petition supporting the 1st and 2nd amendments themselves.
The AG spokesperson told FOX43 that they will give the complaints "proper attention," but will avoid any further speculation on what comes next.
FOX43 Finds Out reached out to an attorney representing the America PAC and never heard back.
However, the PAC has now posted a FAQ page on its website all about the payments. It states the majority of checks have been mailed out already, while some are under review for potential fraud or abuse. The PAC also plans to launch a help desk inquiry on its website "on or about Friday, December 6" for people to submit any questions or issues about the payments.
