RIVERDALE PARK, Md. — On Tuesday, Stella received a lacrosse stick made especially for her. Students in College Park Academy’s Engineering For US All (e4usa) program designed the stick so Stella can still play lacrosse in her wheelchair.
Stella has cerebral palsy, but her diagnosis doesn’t stand in the way of her sports goals.
Her new lacrosse stick attaches to her wheelchair, allowing her to maneuver it from the same armrests where she steers her chair.
The Tuesday morning event featured remarks from University of Maryland's President Darryll J. Pines, who co-founded the e4usa program.
Stella and her family were there to test out the new device and show off the engineering students’ handiwork.
