Lebanon school district hopes to get 200 donors for annual blood drive

The blood drive has saved over 10,000 lives over the past 30 years.

MYERSTOWN, Pa. — The Eastern Lebanon County School District (ELCO) held their 30th anniversary blood drive on Friday.

According to the Central Pennsylvania Blood Bank, the blood drive has collected over 3,500 units of blood, saving 10,500 lives over the past 30 years. On Friday, organizers say they hope to reach a goal of 200 donors.

Thirty years ago, an ELCO student experienced a medical crisis and needed blood. Organizers say the school district responded by setting up a blood drive and together, saved a life. The school district has held an annual blood drive ever since.

The blood drive takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Walk in appointments are welcome.
