YORK, Pa. — Tuesday, Dec. 3 marks Giving Tuesday, a global initiative to increase support for nonprofits and charities.
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday over, nonprofits are asking the public to share any spare change they may have to make a difference.
York County CASA is participating in its first Giving Tuesday this year. The organization recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the court dependency system.
Program Director Mercedes Baumgardner says Giving Tuesday is an important day for nonprofits.
“Participating allows us to disseminate our mission and to invite more volunteers who have the passion for helping, and making a difference in children's lives,” Baumgardner explained.
For those interested in donating to the organization, organizers say you can mail a check to York County CASA at 45 N. George St. in York. To volunteer or make a donation via phone, call the York County CASA office number at 717-779-7954.
United Way of York also participated in this year’s Giving Tuesday. The non-profit organization helps working households achieve financial stability.
