YORK, Pa. — A central Pennsylvania organization is bringing people together under the stars.

The community is invited to a public starwatch at the York County Astronomical Society's Observatory on Saturday, July 13.

The evening will begin with a screened astronomical presentation on current astronomy topics, the Society said. Guests will then be guided on a tour of the sky through one of the club’s telescopes. Attendees will be shown a host of celestial objects.

The event is free to attend, but the Society says donations are encouraged to help it continue to bring educational astronomical events to the community.

Activties will occur as scheduled if the weather is clear. In the event of inclement or severe weather, potential participants can call 717-759-YCAS (9227) or visit the website or Facebook page for notice of cancellation

The Observatory is located at John Rudy County Park, 400 Mundis Race Road in York. The starwatch will take place from 8 - 10 p.m. on July 13.
