Annual Pie Gobbler run held on City Island

For over ten years runners have been coming out for the Pie Gobbler run at City Island where runners can participate in the 5k, 10k, or half marathon.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — For some people, the Thanksgiving holiday is all about food. Others love to watch the parade or the football game but another tradition that many people love is the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot.

For over ten years runners have been coming out for the Pie Gobbler run at City Island where runners can participate in the 5k, 10k, or half marathon.

“It was a lot of fun being out here with the family and creating a new family tradition,” said runner Ann Willigerod.

For Thursday's run, over 350 runners came out to burn some extra calories before their dinner tonight and to help nonprofits.

For the last several years the Pie Gobbler run has been helping local nonprofits.

“This month all of our resources are collecting online donations for Cereal4All which is a student-run organization down in Boca Raton, Florida. We have a few local races there so we’re partnering with them this month to get donations for them,” said race director Monica Padgett.

At the end of the race, individual pies were available for all participants in addition to a finisher medal!
