DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Tröegs Independent Brewing has announced a new product that will excite both Pennsylvanians and New Yorkers.

As part of its Collaboration Beer Series, the Hershey-based brewery is collaborating with New York's Sloop Brewing Company to release Sloop John T, an 8% ABV Double IPA.

The new beer was inspired by Tröegs's Perpetual IPA, which, according to Circana data, is the best-selling craft beer in Pa. The Sloop side of the product was inspired by the company's Juice Bomb Hazy IPA, its flagship beer and one of the most popular IPAs in all of New York.

John Trogner, Tröegs co-founding brother and brewmaster, says he always enjoys working with other breweries.

“Collaborating with other breweries is a great way to branch out and learn from each another," Trogner said. “We’re constantly looking for new, creative ways to work with essentially four main ingredients. It helps give us a unique perspective on some things we might take for granted, like ingredient selection and brewing techniques.”

Justin Taylor, the chief product officer of Sloop Brewing Company, feels the same way.

“It’s always great to share ideas with other people who are equally as passionate about the craft beer industry as we are,” Taylor said. “With Perpetual being such a prominent brand in Pennsylvania, we felt we should draw inspiration from our flagship hazy IPA, Juice Bomb. We’re very excited for this beer to hit the market!”

Anyone interested in purchasing Sloop John T can find it on draft and in limited 16 oz cans at Tröegs as well as in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Customers can use the Tröegs Brew Finder to make for an easier search.
