It’s Giving Tuesday. Here are a few York County nonprofits you can donate to

Giving Tuesday is a day for people to show their generosity to their favorite nonprofit or charity.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — After the Black Friday frenzy and Cyber Monday melee, local nonprofits in York County are asking you to keep them in mind for Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday is a day for people to show their generosity to their favorite nonprofit or charity. FOX43 News got a chance to talk to a few about the work they do and how donations can help further that work.

York Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1985 and has been building and providing safe and affordable housing to local families in need. Since its installation, York Habitat for Humanity has built thousands of homes, helped hundreds of families become homeowners, taught construction experience and offered families budgeting and financial relief opportunities.

“Homeownership for many people may seem achievable, but for low-income families—that’s not the case,” said Natasha Kukorlo, executive director for York Habitat for Humanity.

She added, “It really is life-changing; they learn more than they’ve known about homeownership and then they can afford a home which changes their entire lives.”

A list of what donations go to, from hard hats for volunteers to siding to cover a Habitat home, is available online to show how far a donation will go. To donate, click here. If you can’t give monetary donations, ReStores are another option that take gently used household materials. All the proceeds go right back into the York Habitat for Humanity program.

FOX43 also got the chance to stop by Keystone Kidspace, which is a nonprofit that prides itself on providing real access to experiences, tools and mentors that ignite kids’ imaginations and prepare them for a successful future. According to their 2023 Annual Report, Keystone Kidspace reached over 1,500 children.

“Keystone Kidspace is a hands-on, STEAM maker-space for kids and their grown-ups. Kids get to come here and build their creative confidence and explore as well as create and take risks and fail and just explore and be creative in ways that are really meaningful to them,” said Jessica Brubaker, executive director at Keystone Kidspace.

Donations to Keystone Kidspace help make an impact on the young artists, scientists and builders of the York community. To donate, click here

Harvest of Blessing is also hoping you have a few dollars to spare after the busy shopping weekend. This nonprofit is currently housed in the York County Food Bank, which provides food and clothing to York County residents in need. Their mission is to help people get back on their feet by providing access to food and clothing.

FOX43 concluded their last stop at DreamWrights Center for Community Arts, where arts and imagination come to life. This nonprofit organization was founded in 1997 and its mission is to provide creative educational experiences through inclusive inter-generational performance and theatre arts programming.

From Giving Tuesday, to any day of the week, donations go directly towards the Center for Community Arts. To donate, click here.
