CEO of York Jewish Community Center sleeps on roof for Give Local York

Terri Travers, CEO of York JCC, has to stay on the roof until the organization reaches its fundraising goal of $65,000.

YORK, Pa. — Terri Travers, CEO of York Jewish Community Center, took fundraising to new heights.

Travers spent the night on the roof and vowed to stay there until the local nonprofit raises $65,000 during Give Local York.

On Thursday, Travers began her stay on the center's roof when Give Local kicked off at 9 p.m., and she hopes to get off the roof before Shabbat begins on Friday.

The York JCC is one of many local nonprofits participating in Give Local York, a 24-hour giving day that is hosted by the White Rose Leadership Institute and presented by GIANT, supporting nonprofits and growing philanthropy in York County.

Funds raised will allow the center to continue providing quality programs to all, regardless of their circumstances or ability to pay, such as childcare, swim lessons and older adult programming.

"The JCC is such a fun and inspiring place in the community with diverse programs and life-long educational experiences for all ages," said Travers. "I love the idea of making Give Local fun for all, and we're hopeful the community will remember the JCC during this year's Give Local York."
