York Habitat for Humanity recognizes World Habitat Day by addressing youth homelessness

York Habitat for Humanity, alongside other local nonprofits, hosts a housewarming drive at their Restore to address youth homelessness.

YORK, Pa. — Today is World Habitat Day, a time to raise awareness about the basic right to adequate shelter while also taking a look at the condition of our towns and cities.

York Habitat for Humanity is recognizing this day through a housewarming drive at their ReStore, which offers second-hand furniture and other household items, to support young adults transitioning into their first apartments after experiencing homelessness.

The organization is partnering with Covenant House and Valley Youth House to provide these young adults with donated items, second-hand furniture and housewares.

For those who want to participate in the drive, the York Habitat ReStore will be selling $100 ReStore vouchers for just $25. Those vouchers, as well as donated items from a needs list, will be gifted to young adults moving into their new homes.

The public and media are invited to attend the Housewarming Drive from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the York Habitat Restore, 463 S. Albemarle Street, York.
