LANCASTER, Pa. — Two people were apprehended and arrested following a high-speed vehicle chase through Lancaster and Chester counties early Friday morning, State Police said Monday.
Azuan Brady, 21, of Wynthorpe, Del., and Amber Thompson, 18, of Harrisburg, were taken into custody after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase that began on Lincoln Highway East in East Lampeter Township and ended on Route 41 in Chester County, according to State Police.
The duo was allegedly traveling in a black Chevrolet Camaro that was listed as stolen out of Philadelphia, police said.
The incident began at 12:51 a.m., when State Police ran the vehicle's registration while traveling east on Lincoln Highway in East Lampeter Township. Police attempted to stop the vehicle on Lincoln Highway East and Black Horse Road in Paradise Township, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, exceeding 125 mph before turning onto Route 41, while multiple police vehicles pursued.
The Camaro exceeded 130 mph as it traveled on Route 41 into Chester County, where it stopped after running out of gas near Friendship Church Road.
The vehicle's two occupants then exited and attempted to flee on foot. The male suspect, later identified as Brady, was apprehended after losing his footing in a grassy area, but allegedly resisted arrest and refused to comply with the troopers' verbal commands, police said.
The female passenger was located and apprehended after a passing driver notified police she was seen walking north on Route 41, police said.
Brady is charged with two counts of fleeing or attempting to elude police, two counts of receiving stolen property, driving under the influence of drugs, recklessly endangering another person, evading arrest on foot, resisting arrest, and 10 summary traffic violations.
Thompson is charged with one count of evading arrest on foot, police said.
