YORK, Pa. — A York County man has been charged with trying to stab another man during a fight over a video game.

Joseph Lebron-Pond, 34, is charged with two counts of simple assault in connection to the alleged incident, which occurred in Spring Garden Township on December 13, 2023, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of South George Street in York at 11 p.m. that night for a shots-fired report.

The investigation determined the victim in the incident fired a warning shot into the ground when Lebron-Pond brandished a butcher knife at him, Spring Garden Township Police said.

According to police, Lebron-Pond and the victim were playing a video game online when they began arguing. The disagreement escalated into an in-person physical confrontation, at which point Lebron-Pond began brandishing the knife, police said.

He was charged after police consulted with the York County District Attorney's Office, police said.
