DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Update, 4:40 p.m. (April 19): The body has been identified as Miguel Maldonado Jr., 36, who was the suspect in a police-involved shooting near the river in Harrisburg in January.
According to authorities at the time, police responded to an area below the Dock Street Dam in Harrisburg around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 16 for a car that went off the road into the water.
Maldonado, a woman and a child inside the vehicle crawled onto the roof of the car via the sunroof.
Upon arrival, police say Maldonado was holding the woman at knifepoint, and she appeared to have already suffered a wound.
Maldonado was allegedly yelling, "shoot me, shoot me!" to police, according to authorities.
Authorities say that after what was described as an extensive effort to diffuse the situation, Maldonado attempted to cut the woman.
At that point, police shot four times in the direction of Maldonado, who fell into the water.
Authorities called off the search for Maldonado after they were unable to find his body.
In March, Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo ruled the officers were justified in their actions regarding the shooting.

A body was found in the Susquehanna River on Monday, officials have confirmed.
State Police say that a body was located in the Susquehanna River near Three Mile Island in Londonderry Township.
There is no word on who the person is at this time.
