Police clear scene of three-hour-long standoff

Officers were responding to a reported weapons offense and determined a shooting had occurred.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Update, 2:36 p.m.: East Hempfield police say that officers responded to the 100 block of Madge Dr. for a reported weapons offense Saturday morning. While on scene, police say that they found evidence of a shooting and investigated the incident. 

Damon Darnell Daniel has been named as a person of interest involved in the incident. 

According to police, there is no active threat to the public at this time, and the incident was determined to be isolated.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or knows Daniel's whereabouts has been asked to contact East Hempfield Township police at 717-898-3103.

Previously: Police were beginning to leave the scene by 1:45 p.m. of what was a more than three-hour-long incident in East Hempfield Township. 

Since 10:30 a.m. Saturday, there was a heavy police presence on the scene of Madge drive in East Hempfield Township, according to Lancaster County dispatch. 

Around 1:30 p.m., officers armed with shields raised entered a residence, according to FOX43 crews on scene. 

There is no word on what prompted the police response, but FOX43 reports that officers have begun to leave the scene.

This is a developing story and there is limited information at this time.
