YORK, Pa. — Police are searching for the pictured suspect who stole five sports cards worth $14,000 from a vendor at Morning Sun Marketplace.
According to the Northern York County Regional Police Department, the theft occurred on Nov. 5 around 1:00 a.m. at the market in the 5300 block of Lincoln Highway in Jackson Township.
“I’ve been here for 23 years and never really had something like this happen before," said Jason Thoman.
Police say Thoman, the owner of Jason's Sports Cards, had a motion sensor on his vendor space alert him to the burglar.
Upon driving to the marketplace to check on his property, police say that Thoman observed the pictured suspect, who fled on foot when he saw the victim.
“We have vendors that come through here and set up during the day, but nobody is here at 1:00 a.m.," said Thoman. "So, I knew he didn’t belong.”
Authorities say the suspect was able to enter a display case and steal the five cards pictured below that had a combined value of $14,000:

The stolen cards include a 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card and a 1947 Jackie Robinson card.
“It certainly seemed like he had a game plan going into this," said Lt. Gregg Anderson with the Northern York County Regional Police. "He didn’t seem like a stranger to the marketplace.”
Detectives say they hope that sports memorabilia dealers and buyers will be able to help find the cards.
“As you can see, [the cards] are pretty expensive. There’s only a select amount of people out there in this world that are interested in buying a $4,000 sports card.”
Police describe the suspect as wearing a white mask and a blue Nautica jacket.
