CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Police are investigating a stabbing that reportedly left a victim seriously injured in the early hours of Saturday.
According to the Chambersburg Police Department, crews were dispatched to Legendz Bar at 1:12 a.m. for a reported fight involving a knife.
Over the course of the investigation, officers determined that Basil McLeod, 38, of Chambersburg, stabbed the victim several times.
According to a criminal complaint, surveillance footage shows McLeod and the victim in a verbal fight in the beer takeout area of the bar. The argument continues as they walk to the main dance floor, where the victim allegedly attempted to punch McLeod with a closed fist. Security officers quickly intervened to break up the fight and separate McLeod and the victim, with the victim being escorted back to the beer takeout area and McLeod remaining on the dance floor with other security officers. The video then shows McLeod breaking free of security and pushing through the officers with the victim to stab the victim several times in the head, neck and back with a knife.
The victim was transported to the Chambersburg Hospital but was later transferred to a trauma center. Charging documents say doctors told police that the victim was in critical condition.
McLeod was charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault and simple assault.
Court documents show he was denied bail and remains in Franklin County Prison awaiting a preliminary hearing on Oct. 15.
