CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — A Cumberland County man is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving under the influence and assaulting two officers.
According to the Mechanicsburg Police Department, on Feb. 4 at 1:25 p.m., an officer performed a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation. The driver of the car was identified as Thomas Scott Jr, 33.
The officer determined Scott Jr. was under the influence to the degree that he could not safely operate a vehicle. When officers attempted to arrest Scott Jr., he allegedly resisted, resulting in a physical altercation where two officers were injured.
One of the officers was sent to the hospital due to the sustained injuries. They were later released but will need follow-up treatment.
Scott Jr. was able to flee the area. He was later located and transported to Cumberland County Prison, where his bail was set at $100,000.
Scott Jr. has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, escape, evading arrest or detention on foot, loitering and prowling at nighttime, two counts of simple assault, DUI and summary traffic violations.
