CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Cumberland County police are searching for a man accused of rape.

According to the Lower Allen Township Police Department, on Feb. 11 at 9:20 p.m., officers responded to the Courtyard Marriott, located at 4921 Gettysburg Road for a reported rape.

At the scene, officers made contact with the victim, an employee of the hotel, who reported that she was working at the bar, serving a male guest who had been ordering drinks and food.

He reportedly asked the victim to bring food and drinks up to his room, which she did. The man then came down, ordered more food and the victim took the order up to his room again.

According to police, when the victim arrived at the room, the man answered the door and pulled her inside by her arm.

Once inside, the suspect forced himself upon her and threatened her if she left.

It was determined that the man used a false name to rent the room. The credit card used was also declined, but video surveillance and the suspect's photo were captured.

The suspect's skin tone, hair, facial hair and hand tattoos matched an arrest photo of Michael Cates, 28, from Millersville. The victim was shown a photo array that included Cates' photo and she positively identified him as the suspect, according to police.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Cates has been charged with rape- threat of forcible compulsion, IDSI- threat forcible compulsion, Indecent assault without the consent of others, terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another and access device fraud.
