HARRISBURG, Pa. — An escaped drug trafficker was sentenced to 22 years in prison for the sexual exploitation of children and escaping from a detention facility, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania reported.
Shane Lopez, 29, of Mahanoy City, Pa., escaped in November 2020 from a residential rehabilitation facility in Harrisburg. He was serving a federal drug trafficking sentence.
Lopez was arrested again on May 21, 2021, in Mahanoy City, during which police found evidence of child pornography. An investigation later found he had over 1,000 images and videos of child pornography, including a video he made of an 18-month-old.
On November 20, 2023, Lopez pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children as well as escape from a detention facility.
United States District Court Judge Christopher Conner sentenced Lopez to 20 years for sexual exploitation of children and two years for escape. Lopez will also serve five years of supervised release.
