STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — A former Penn State University professor is facing additional charges regarding his alleged lewdness at a state park.
Themis Matsoukas, 64, of State College, was allegedly caught exposing himself and performing lewd acts with a dog at Rothrock State Forest in Huntingdon County.
In the newly filed court documents, Matsoukas was additionally charged with open lewdness, indecent exposure, criminal trespassing, burglary and disorderly conduct for reported offenses on May 16 and May 31, 2023.
The DCNR began investigating Matsoukas in April of last year, when a trail cam intended to monitor suspected thefts from a restroom in the forest's parking lot captured images of an unknown man, later identified as Matsoukas, allegedly engaging in lewd acts around the parking lot and restroom.
The alleged acts included indecent exposure, masturbation and sexual contact with a dog. Matsoukas is reportedly seen on video allegedly attempting to record himself performing the acts on an electronic tablet.
The alleged offenses Matsoukas committed in May were discovered by police during forensic examinations of three iPads found in his home during the initial investigation, authorities said. Police obtained search warrants for the devices.
Investigators found more than 30 videos of Matsoukas committing lewd acts including indecent exposure, masturbation, burglary, and criminal trespassing at campsites around the state forest, according to the complaint.
The former Penn State chemical engineering professor allegedly told investigators he performed the acts to "blow off steam."
Matsoukas had been with the University since 1991; according to Penn State University officials, he was relieved of his responsibilities and is currently on leave.
