Police make arrest in shooting that left 1 injured

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — Update, 6 p.m.: Police have confirmed that Evan Lamarr Sear was taken into custody in Martinsburg, West Virginia, at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Sears has been charged with one count of Criminal Attempt Homicide, four counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence and one count of Theft by Unlawful Taking.

The Chambersburg Police Department additionally thanked the Martinsburg City Police Department for their assistance with apprehending Sears.

Previous: Franklin County police are searching for the perpetrator(s) of an Oct. 30 shooting in Chambersburg. 

According to the Chambersburg Police Department, at 9:30 a.m. officers responded to 109 Garfield Street to investigate a reported shooting. 

At the scene, officers made contact with the victim, who had been shot in the leg and hand. The victim told police that the shooting happened at 768 South Main St. 

He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital; the severity of his injuries is unknown at this time. 

Chambersburg officers believe this is an isolated incident and that the public is not in danger.
