CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — A former Cumberland County resident connected to selling stolen body parts was sentenced to two years of probation on an abuse of a corpse charge on Tuesday.
Jeremy Pauley pled guilty to the charge on Monday, Jan. 8, according to court documents.
Pauley, who now lives in Susquehanna County, also pled guilty to criminal conspiracy and interstate transportation of stolen property in September of 2023 in a separate case.
According to police, the investigation of Pauley began on June 14, when police received a phone call regarding suspicious activity at a home on the 200 block of North Enola Road in Enola.
The tipster told police that a suspect, later identified as Pauley, was buying human body parts and selling them on Facebook, according to police.
During the interview, Pauley allegedly told police he had three full human skeletons and approximately 15 to 20 human skulls, according to the complaint.
Pauley reportedly described himself as a collector of "oddities" and said the items were purchased legally, according to police.
He allegedly admitted to being part of a network of people who bought and sold human remains that had been stolen from Harvard Medical School and an Arkansas mortuary between 2018 and 2022.
Seven other suspects have been charged as part of the investigation.
As apart of Pauley's sentencing, he will serve the first year of his probation while being supervised, and if officials deem that he completes the requirements of his probation without issue, his second year could be unsupervised. He is also required to pay his costs of prosecution.
His sentencing in his pending federal case has not yet been set.
