Police: Couple stole more than $180,000 from elderly woman's bank account, pension

Justin Gohn and Sorrel Flick are accused of taking $184,544.63 from the elderly woman's bank account and pension for personal use between August 2021 and July 2023.

A Lancaster County couple is facing charges after allegedly stealing over $180,000 from an elderly woman they were supposed to be taking care of, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Justin Gohn and Sorrel Flick are accused of taking $184,544.63 from the elderly woman's bank account and pension for personal use while they were living at the victim's East Donegal Township home between August 2021 and July 2023. 

According to the criminal complaint, Gohn was the woman's power of attorney until July 2021, when an unidentified person was appointed as power of attorney due to Gohn and Flick allegedly not taking adequate care of the victim.

 Police say Gohn admitted that he and Flick had access to the victim's money while living with her and that they used it for their own expenses. Gohn also allegedly admitted to having Flick write and sign checks despite not having power of attorney.

Gohn also set his personal email address as the one on file with the victim's bank account, according to a criminal complaint.

In total, the couple allegedly stole $101,152.85 from the elderly woman's bank account between Aug. 25, 2021 and July 7, 2023, and $83,391.79 from the victim's pension between Oct. 1, 2021 and May 23, 2023.

Gohn and Sorrel also allegedly failed to pay a $15,948.24 medical bill on the victim's behalf.

Gohn is charged with theft by unlawful taking, financial exploitation of older adult and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds. Sorrel is charged with theft by unlawful taking, financial exploitation of older adult and forgery.
