LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A Lancaster County man is facing charges after allegedly soliciting who he believed was a 12-year-old girl for sex.
According to the Lancaster City Bureau of Police, on Saturday, March 16, officers began investigating an attempted sex offense. Kyle Bomgardner, 33, was subsequently charged with multiple offenses including attempted and solicitation of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault and corruption of minors.
Bomgardner allegedly began texting the female victim, who identified herself as a 12-year-old girl, and asked her several sexually charged questions. According to the affidavit of probable cause, on March 16, Bomgardner made arrangements with the victim to meet in Lancaster.
Instead, officers made contact with Bomgardner. According to the affidavit, he admitted that he had engaged in conversations with a girl he believed was 12 years old. He also allegedly admitted that he agreed to meet with the victim and go to her cousin's house as well as sending her sexually charged messages and images.
Bomgardner is also facing charges of distribution of obscene materials and criminal use of a communication facility after allegedly attempting to meet with a juvenile for sexual activity.
He was committed to the Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.
