LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A Lancaster County man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly trying to grab an officer's gun as he was being arrested.
Howard Leroy Barron, 60, from Lancaster, has been charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, stalking, resisting arrest, simple assault, disorderly conduct, general impairment, DUI, harassment, reckless driving and obstructing highways.
According to the Manheim Township Police Department, Barron was at a tavern on June 21 and tried to approach an individual. The victim told police that they used to be friends, but weren't anymore because Barron was stalking them.
The victim reportedly told Barron that they were leaving, but he grabbed their pool stick and said they weren't. The victim let go of the stick and left the building,
However, Barron allegedly followed in his car and forced the victim to the shoulder of York Road. The victim, afraid that Barron would harm them, called their spouse and police.
Barron allegedly left his car and punched the victim's car window.
Officers arrived at the scene and Barron reportedly "got in [an] officer's face, saying he'd kill them while reaching for the officer's gun and making other threats," according to the Manheim Township Police Department.
After a struggle, Barron was taken into custody. One officer sustained a minor finger injury during the incident.
Barron reportedly consented to a breath test and was found to be under the influence.
According to police, Barron posted his $125,000 bail and was released from Lancaster County Prison.
