LANCASTER, Pa. — Two Lancaster parents were arrested for child endangerment after police discovered drugs and weapons within easy reach of children living in the residence, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
Megan and Timothy Mauldin, both 33, both of Lancaster, were arrested after the Pennsylvania State Police - Troop J Lancaster Station conducted a search warrant at their home on July 24 in connection to already existing arrest warrants, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Troopers noted "deplorable" living conditions inside the residence, including spoiled food with insects on it and a rancid smell in the kitchen area.
Law enforcement also seized the following, all of which was left unsecured and easily accessible to the couple's four children, ages 14, 11, 9 and 6:
- Loaded Remington shotgun
- Bag of methamphetamine
- Small mirror
- Two digital scales
- Cut straw
- A plastic container with the following items:
- Two clear baggies
- Two razor blades
- Three plastic straws
- One plastic cap
- Two wood picks
- One small pink plastic box
- One ripped corner bag
- Loaded pistol
- Marijuana box containing methamphetamine
- Glass jar and plastic bag containing psilocybin mushrooms
- Bottle of liquid codeine
Both Mauldins are charged with four felony counts and four misdemeanor counts of endangering welfare of children - parent/guardian/other commits offense and one misdemeanor count each of intentional possession of a controlled substance by person not registered and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. Timothy was charged with an additional misdemeanor count each of intentional possession of a controlled substance by person not registered and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
The couple is scheduled for a preliminary arraignment on Oct. 8, court documents show.
The Mauldins were also arrested and charged in July for their role in an armed robbery and vehicle theft.
