LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Police arrested a man after he was caught taking tires from a car dealership in West Earl Township.
On Jan. 30, just before 10 p.m., an officer on patrol saw suspicious activity involving a U-Haul box truck parked behind a car dealership.
When the officer approached the truck to investigate, it sped off.
The officer went after it and pulled over the truck for a traffic stop.
Police say the driver, Teodulfo Gonzalez of Reading, didn't have a valid driver's license.
Gonzalez, 48, told the officer he was collecting tires from the dealership, according to police.
The officer was suspicious of the claim and began investigating.
A search of the U-Haul truck revealed 30-40 tires, some of which had been taken from the dealership, police say.
According to police, Gonzalez told the officer he had permission to take the tires.
When police contacted the dealership, an employee said the tires had been stored securely and Gonzalez didn't have permission to take them.
During their investigation, the officer also found that Gonzalez had over 40 traffic-related warrants for his arrest.
Gonzalez was arrested and taken to the West Earl Police Department for processing.
He is facing charges of burglary, trespassing, theft, and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver's license.
