YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A man wanted by the U.S. Marshal's Office in West Virginia was arrested at a New Cumberland hotel.
The Fairview Township Police Department arrested Samuel Lee Rose, 43, while officers were conducting drug investigations at a hotel off Limekiln Road in New Cumberland on Sept. 8 at 1:40 a.m.
Officers investigated and met with a man and woman who were staying at the hotel. The man allegedly provided false information to them, but officers were able to determine Samuel was a fugitive wanted by West Virginia police.
According to the FBI, Rose was wanted for his alleged involvement in a drug trafficking operation in which large amounts of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine base and cocaine hydrochloride were moved from Hagerstown, Maryland to locations in Berkeley County, West Virginia from August 2020 to June 2021.
The drug enterprise allegedly involved a sophisticated operation including the use of purported business to act as a front for drug trafficking and the laundering of hundreds of thousands of dollars in drug proceeds.
On July 20, 2021, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Rose after he was charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking violations.
Officers allegedly found Samuel to be in possession of three pistols and 260 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl. While searching the room, Samuel allegedly attempted to flee from officers on foot but was quickly apprehended.
While in custody, Sameul allegedly bragged to officers that he was a "wanted fugitive."
Samuel is facing multiple weapons and drug charges. He's also been charged with receiving stolen property, flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment and false identification to law enforcement.
