NEW HOLLAND, Pa. — A New Holland man charged with raping a victim with a mental disability waived his preliminary hearing, the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office announced.

New Holland Borough Police say they started investigating on Sept. 26, 2023, when the victim reported that Matthew Souden, 42, was touching them inappropriately and raping them. Detectives interviewed Souden on Oct. 10, and he stated the victim moved in with him in 2014 and allegedly admitted to the abuse occurring.

Police did not say how long Souden had been abusing his victim.

Souden faces two counts of rape of a person with a mental disability and three counts of indecent assault without consent in Lancaster County Court. He is being held in Lancaster County Prison on $750,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 26.
