Pa. Attorney General Agents shoot knife-wielding suspect during Greyhound Bus station altercation

According to the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety, Agents with the Pa. Office of the Attorney General witnessed the suspect threaten to stab the victim with a knife.

PITTSBURGH — Police in Pittsburgh are currently investigating an altercation that left a suspect in critical condition, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

At 6:40 a.m., detectives with the Pittsburgh Police Violent Crime Unit were dispatched to the Greyhound Bus station located at 55 11th Street Downtown.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, the investigation revealed an altercation between two men on board a Greyhound bus that continued once they got off.

Agents with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General were in the area and witnessed one of the men threatening the other with a knife while actively trying to stab him.

Public Safety stated that the agents tried to verbally engage with the suspect, who refused to drop the knife. 

To stop the potential threat, the agents discharged their duty weapons, which ultimately struck the suspect in his chest and stomach; Pittsburgh EMS was called to the scene and the victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition and taken into surgery.

The other male involved was reported to have struck his head on the ground during the incident and was transported by medics for further evaluation.

Pittsburgh's Mobile Crime Unit detectives processed evidence at the scene and detectives interviewed the bus driver, passengers and any potential witnesses.

The investigation is ongoing at this time, and there's no word on the suspect's current status.
