NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — Two pedestrians went to the hospital after being struck by a car while out trick-or-treating, police said early Friday morning.
The crash occurred around 7:17 p.m. on the 300 block of Fifth Street in New Cumberland during the Borough's trick-or-treat night on Oct. 26. Police say the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when she collided with the children as they were crossing the street.
Lindsey Rowe, 33, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault motor vehicle, recklessly endangering another person, driving while suspended and driving vehicle at safe speeds.
Police discovered that Rowe's license has been suspended since 2009. She told officers at the scene that she did not see the children crossing the road and that it "all happened so fast," according to a criminal complaint.
Officers say witnesses at the scene saw Rowe's car come to a stop on top of one of the victim's legs before she pulled over. One of the trick-or-treaters suffered a severe road rash and leg injury, according to an affidavit of probable cause. The other child has a possible broken foot and hit their head off of the pavement.
Police say dozens of other children were out and about and crossing the street in the area of the crash.
