Pennsylvania State Police arrest duo accused of vandalism and burglary crime spree

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — State troopers in Cumberland County have arrested two individuals believed to have committed several vandalism and burglaries. 

Trystan Zimmerman, 25, and Sophia Brandt, 19, are facing multiple charges for a series of crimes allegedly committed within the past several days. According to police, on Sept. 12, the pair entered a Target in South Middleton Township and drew vulgarities and swastikas on various items, including multiple children's toys and electronics, with black magic markers. 

The acts reportedly caused over $2,000 in damages to merchandise. 

Zimmerman and Brandt allegedly used a fire axe to forcibly break into the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in South Middleton Township on Sept. 16 at 4:45 a.m. 

Once inside, the pair allegedly attempted an unsuccessful theft and fled the scene. 

For both crimes, Zimmerman and Brandt have been charged with ethnic intimidation, disorderly conduct, burglary, institutional vandalism, attempted theft and two counts of criminal mischief. 

The pair also allegedly forced entry into Churchtown Church of God in Monroe Township on Sept. 15 and Mt. Victory United Methodist Church in South Middleton Township. They allegedly removed cash and fled the scene. 

Zimmerman and Brandt are believed to be connected to other incidents/crimes between Carlisle and Annville. Anyone with information on the duo has been asked to contact PSP Carlisle at 717-249-2121. 

Both Zimmerman and Brandt are being arraigned at Cumberland County Prison in connection with the incidents.
