SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Editor's note: The above video is from Dec. 13.
The Shippensburg Police Department has identified four suspects allegedly accused of firing a gun into a Shippensburg apartment building on the 200 block of East King Street around 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13. No one was injured in the incident.
Three of the suspects, including the alleged shooter, are 14 years old, police said.
A fourth suspect, 20-year-old Ashis Rai, was arrested a few days after the incident, on Dec. 15.
Police claim the accomplices discussed a plan to target a specific individual by shooting into the apartment building. The four suspects allegedly knew which bedroom of the apartment their target was sleeping in.
According to a criminal complaint, there were five people in the apartment at the time of the shooting: one adult and four children between the ages of 11 and 17.
Rai is accused of dropping off two of the 14-year-olds, who then walked the rest of the way to the apartment. One of the juveniles allegedly shot eight rounds into the apartment, and they ran away. Police say Rai then picked them up at a predetermined meeting location. Officers were able to track their movements on surveillance video recovered after the incident.
Police interviewed Rai after identifying him as the man driving the car that picked up the shooter and accompanying juvenile. According to an affidavit of probable cause, Rai admitted that the gun was stolen from a development in Shippensburg and he knew where it was. Police executed a search warrant, recovered the gun and confirmed that it had been listed as stolen.
Rai also claimed that the juveniles involved in the incident were laughing about what they did when they got back in the car and made claims such as "I'm going to kill [the victim]" and "I know where [the victim] sleeps" leading up to the incident.
Two of the juveniles have been charged and the third has charges pending. The Cumberland County Juvenile Probation Department is handing cases for all three.
Rai was denied bail and is being held in the Cumberland County Prison. He was arraigned on multiple charges, including attempted homicide.
The SPD says all of the suspects are cooperating.
