Police investigating drive-by shooting targeting York College student

​At this time, it's unclear why the driver fired at the student's car. However, police have "confidently" ruled out the possibility of road rage.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A suspected case of road rage led to a drive-by shooting of a York College student, the college and police said Friday.

On Thursday, April 11 at 2 p.m. at the intersection of Kingsmill Road and Grantley Road, a student reported that a maroon sedan, possibly a Nissan with tinted windows, pulled up to them and fired several shots at their vehicle. The suspect reportedly then drove eastbound on Kingsmill Road.

The student sustained a minor injury due to broken glass, according to the Spring Garden Township Police Department

At this time, it's unclear why the driver fired at the student's car. Police have ruled out the possibility of road rage but believe the victim was not specifically targeted.

Police responded and the area was searched, but the suspect was not located. 

It's not believed there is an imminent danger to the public. 

York College provided safety tips for drivers: 

- Always be aware of your surroundings

- Be aware of suspicious activity and persons and report them to campus safety
