Police investigating reported shooting as swatting incident

A shooting reported this morning in York County is now being investigated as a swatting incident, according to Pennsylvania State Police troopers at the scene.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Update, 11:30 a.m.: A shooting reported this morning in York County is now being investigated as a swatting incident, according to Pennsylvania State Police troopers at the scene.

Troopers say the reports were unfounded.

Swatting is when someone falsely calls in a threat with the goal of drawing a police presence to the area.

Previously: A reported shooting has closed a road in York County, according to Ted Czech with the York County Office of Emergency Management. 

Officials say reports of a shooting came in just after 10 a.m. on Oct. 9. Bald Eagle Road in Fawn Township is closed at Deer and Ridge Roads for emergency responders.

There is no word at this time if anyone was injured or killed in the incident.
