Update: Man who walked away from Cumberland County Prison Work Release Center apprehended

Karl Zimmerman was captured in Cambria County by Jackson Township Police, authorities in Cumberland County said Wednesday.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Update (July 18): The Cumberland County Communications Office said Karl Zimmerman was found and apprehended in Cambria County by Jackson Township Police.

He will be transported to Cambria County Prison before being returned to Cumberland County to face escape charges.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man accused of walking off his work release program, according to the Office.

Karl Zimmerman allegedly said he was going to orientation at work around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 15 before walking away from the Cumberland County Prison Work Release Center.

He may have two dogs with him that are known to be aggressive and may be in a 1998 Silver Acura sedan with plate KRP5593, the Sheriff's Office said.

Zimmerman is charged with simple assault, according to law enforcement.
