FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. — A suspected DUI driver led state police on a chase across Franklin and Adams Counties before rolling his vehicle in a crash.

The incident began on Wednesday, June 12 around 7 p.m. when reported seeing a Toyota Corolla traveling on Lincoln Way East near Dymond Avenue in Guilford Township, Franklin County.

The Corolla was doing over 110mph in a 55mph zone. The driver did not pull over when police tried to stop him.

During the subsequent chase, troopers stated that the Corolla continued to travel at high speeds and pass other vehicles, sometimes from the turning lane. He also blew through multiple red lights and stop signs, according to charging documents. As the pursuit continued, the driver led police into Adams County.

The troopers used a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver) to stop the fleeing vehicle. The Corolla rolled and came to a stop on its roof. This was in the area of 1400 Buchanan Valley Rd in Franklin Township, Adams County.

The occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to state police.

The driver, Quentin Bitner, 29, of Fayetteville, faces a host of charges, including DUI, fleeing and eluding and numerous traffic violations.

In a PIT maneuver, a fleeing vehicle is forced to abruptly turn 180 degrees, causing the vehicle to stall and stop. The pursuing vehicle applies pressure to the rear quarter panel of the fleeing vehicle, causing it to spin out and fishtail, eventually turning 180 degrees and stalling.
